In 1960, the Vermandere family founded a workshop, where, among other things, plows from nearby farms were repaired.

When at a certain point a local monastery was looking for a cooker hood, they called on the craft of the Vermandere family, and the origins of the most important industry were laid, namely the production of custom-made cooker hoods.

In 1995, when no further expansions were possible at the existing site in Heule, the company moved to the current location in Gullegem.

After three generations of Vermandere at the helm, Karel Lafosse and Benjamin Vandorpe took over the company on January 1, 2019.

With the knowledge and know-how, a new opportunity was tapped in 2020 during the corona pandemic: the production and commercialization of disinfection columns with automatic touch-free dispensers under the brand name HandsHero.

In 2022 another product line was added to the family with the STOOF made-to-measure induction stoves.

In 2023, the activities of STOOF, Lafosse, Vermandere and HandsHero were consolidated within the LAVA Group BV and Bo Samaey and Björn Callewaert joined the company as partners.
